DoubleTree by Hilton Lyon Eurexpo

The breakfast was still good, both the room and the food, but the rest was a catastrophe. Since my last visit in December 2023, something seems to have changed, maybe the management or ownership. The building itself is old, but the infrastructure isn't bad; it mainly needs cleaning and maintenance. The corridors weren't vacuumed, and the wall paintwork was unacceptable. The corridor windows looked unclean too. Parking was dirty, as were the folding door and the torn pipe insulation. It looked like nobody had maintained the place in a long time. At reception, people welcomed us nicely, but on the morning of 8.4.26 nobody responded when I pointed out that dirt might block the hotel's main revolving entrance door. Unbelievable. In the two rooms we had, I moved an armchair and found old socks from a previous guest, maybe from long before, on the carpet. The rooms hadn't been cleaned. The shower caps in the bathrooms looked as though they hadn't been cleaned for months. No bath slippers, pen, or paper in the rooms, though I did get slippers once after asking. The hotel needs a full Hilton audit immediately. For the price, the quality is negative, and this is unacceptable by usual Hilton standards.

The wellness area is small but pleasant, and the booking system kept it from getting crowded. We also enjoyed the bar cocktails and had a nice breakfast. Lucie and Samuel at reception were especially welcoming and helpful. The bathroom needs some freshening up, and there's no ventilation.

Check-in with Lucie made my latest visit especially nice. She recognized that I was Czech, and we had a really lovely conversation. I've had an amazing experience at this hotel, and I appreciated the warm welcome. I'll be back to Hilton again, thank you! Tomas

I slept really well in the comfortable bed, and the spa was extremely comfortable too. The service was good, and breakfast was fine. A very good hotel, I'll definitely stay here again next time.
