Ignore the bad review. The owner is super nice, and the rooms are nice too. I'd recommend staying here in Saint Privât.

What put me off most was the rude man running the place. He was gruff and nasty, and we didn't feel welcome. The room was clean enough, but very dated and shabby. Breakfast was disappointing, and with the family living above the rooms, we could hear them stomping around early and late.

The room was noisy and the television didn't work. Food wasn't available, and the owner was arrogant, unfriendly, and rude. If you're a pilgrim, don't stay here. His nasty attitude will ruin your day.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this place if you can. We had booked ahead, but the owner was rude and wouldn't let us in. He said there was no food available and check-in wasn't until 7 pm. Worst hotel and restaurant I've ever experienced in France.

Maybe this was under the previous management, since I see there are new owners now. I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembers that sour-faced lout, a man who seemed better suited to being a medieval jailer. The female proprietor was friendly enough, but she also found ways to turn a reasonable reservation price into a large bill. Keep walking, kids, unless you enjoy people who seem to have stepped out of Balzac's Les Paysans.
