Gites "Le Bret"

The apartment was damp, with condensation puddles under the beds, and the furnishings were in poor shape. Yet the deposit was €300 for a €375 stay, which felt disproportionate. On arrival, there was no inspection, but departure brought a thorough check and the insensitive question, “Anything broken?” Our requested crib wasn’t there, though thankfully we had brought our own for our 18-month-old. There was no oven despite the listing, and the place was outdated and dirty. The door wouldn’t lock, and the automatic shutter worked only now and then. One morning we were stuck inside because it wouldn’t open. The advertised games room didn’t exist. The ping-pong table couldn’t be used, and the few children’s games were broken. Avoid at all costs.

The cottages were beautifully decorated, and the pool was kept in great shape. We found the setting warm and inviting, with welcoming, professional hosts. A truly magnificent place, highly recommended.

The photos give a misleading impression, and the owners weren’t welcoming. We had a leak that was never repaired. The range hood and outdoor light didn’t work either, and the owner never took the steps needed to sort out any of these problems.

Spartan comfort, a damp smell, spiders, and cleaning that felt haphazard. If that’s what you’re after, this is the place.....
