Right in the village, near the fishing port and other places to eat, this small hotel has just 10 rooms and a really good restaurant. The owners are warm and welcoming, and the rooms are clean. It’s a lovely spot in a beautiful, artsy village at the south end of Ile D'Oléron, close to the beaches.

The rooms are basic, but they do the job. The family who runs the place is helpful and service-minded, and the restaurant is great. Ask them what to do or where to eat; they’re happy to offer advice.

The scallops were very good, and the stuffed whelks were excellent. We were warmly welcomed, and the sunrise from the hotel room was a lovely view to wake up to.

The asparagus risotto was superb, and the meal came at a reasonable price with good service. The owner was happy to adjust the charcuterie platter for the children and brought them a generous serving of fries. They’d been left in the fryer a bit too long, but it wasn’t a big deal. We’d gladly come back and try the rooms.
