Logis Hotel Le Relais Imperial

The staff were incredibly helpful, but the stay was still a letdown. The hotel feels stuck in the early 1980s, with shabby furnishings and decor, and our duvet cover had a hole. The walls are so thin I could clearly hear someone snoring next door. The room smelled of stale smoke and Febreze. Check the bathroom and shower before unpacking, because we didn’t and found a nasty surprise the next morning. The attached pizzeria was busy, but the food was mediocre. My calzone was flat, more like a filled omelette with burnt blisters. My burger came rare and cold in the middle, even though I’d ordered it medium.

Dinner at the restaurant was the highlight of my short one-night stay. The food tasted genuinely authentic, with great flavors, a lovely atmosphere, and amazing service. The hotel was cozy and spotless, and the staff made me feel so welcome. Totally recommend!

The gentleman serving us was really nice and professional. The food, though, was mediocre, like frozen stuff. The scallops were dry as cardboard, maybe butter was too expensive, and the ratatouille seemed to be Bonduelle or some other frozen brand. Then there was the nonsense of cooking scallops with garlic! Who on God's earth does that? It’s a typical Brittany/Normandy dish, and there’s NO garlic up there whatsoever. Forget about that place.

We enjoyed both the hotel and the village, and it made a great base for cycling and hiking. There’s a nice Tabac across the street, handy for coffee to start the day or a drink after a walk, run, or hike. It’s a typical old-style local family hotel and great value.
