Novotel Roissy Saint-Witz

The breakfast is consistently good, with loads of choices, and they serve nice food at dinner too. I usually stay here for business trips. The room is luxurious and cosy, with a nice view.

Food is awkward here: the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, there aren't many places to eat, and the restaurant is okay for one meal but has a very short menu. Breakfast costs €19 per person, far too much for what's offered, maybe about half that would be fair. The best thing is the location, around a 12-minute drive from Parc Astérix. The rest feels worn down, shabby, and more like a 2-star hotel, with noticeable smells. Our room for three was big enough but hadn't been cleaned properly. The air conditioning didn't work, and construction on the left side of the building made quite a bit of noise, especially for our child sleeping near the window. It feels overused and overpriced. If there's another option nearby, I'd choose it.

Getting back to the main road in the morning was a real problem. The traffic system near the closest roundabout is awful, and it took us about 20 minutes to go roughly 200 metres. That could be risky if you're on a deadline, though luckily we weren't. The bedroom was good, the bathroom clean, and the bed was fine. Breakfast, though, was awful: flies crawled over the meat and cheese, the cereal was stale, and my partner left his scrambled eggs and bacon because they were badly overcooked. I wouldn't stay here again.

The breakfast was reasonable, basic for the price but with no major problems. The reception staff were friendly at check-in, and the morning staff were fine too, though nothing special. The problem is the rating and the price. If this were a 3-star hotel, I'd give it 4/5, but as a 4-star place I expected better. The facilities may qualify on paper, but the property looks like a motel, and the rooms and corridors were old and dirty. With two kids, our room felt small, and the sofa beds were tiny, with a crack and painful metal between them. It isn't a terrible hotel, but I personally won't stay again. There seems to be a newer development just across the motorway with plenty of food options and other hotels, which might be a better choice. I usually check TripAdvisor reviews, but for some reason I looked at Google this time and thought the hotel would be fine. I only checked TripAdvisor after I started wondering how it could be so bad.
