La bergerie

André Chavignaud knows the area inside out, which was invaluable for finding local attractions and well-loved tourist routes. His humor was always there too, keeping us entertained over breakfast, aperitifs, and dinner. We slept well, ate well, and had a great time. It was a peaceful, relaxing stay, made even better by André's superb hospitality and big personality.

Despite the rooms being very clean and pleasant, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The welcome was rude and appalling. On a Sunday, we were told to have breakfast at exactly 8:30, with no explanation, and there was no flexibility at checkout either. We were told, “You must be gone by 10:00 AM.”

The house itself is clean, but the bedrooms and living room feel dark, and there’s no outdoor space. Cyclists especially should avoid this place. The owner is temperamental. Although he’d agreed to the idea of a picnic, there are no restaurants open in Sainte-Eulalie in the evening, and when we arrived at 7 pm he immediately insisted we eat dinner inside, without even giving us time to shower. In 30 years of traveling, I’ve never had an experience like it.

The room was spacious, nicely decorated, and had excellent beds. Our host gave us a very warm welcome. Dinner was excellent, congratulations to the cook, and breakfast was plentiful. I highly recommend it.
