B&B HOTEL Saintes

On a long drive, we stayed here for the night. The online check-in was great: we got a code to enter the hotel and our room. Our room was very clean, with a double bed and two single beds, which worked well for a family of four. Breakfast was decent, but there wasn’t much choice and some items were below what I expected. I’d still consider staying here again.

The check-in was a mess at first. I reached the hotel at 2pm after driving for 16 hours and needed to rest, but the machine said my room wasn’t ready, so I couldn’t get a code to enter the building or room. Reception isn’t staffed every day between noon and 5pm. I didn’t want to wait three hours, so I called the general information number several times. A woman arranged to call back and told me to press the emergency bell at the machine. That got a cleaning staff member to the door. She called management, I guess, got the room key details, and gave them to me. She even wrote the information on her hand so I could take a picture. She was very helpful. After that, everything was fine. The location works well for an overnight stop, the building is newly built, and there’s good parking, though it isn’t behind a gate, which I don’t like. The room was small but very clean. There’s a supermarket around the corner for food or wine, which is what I did. I’ll stay again on my way back from Portugal, but please keep your contact times up to date. People stopping at a drive-through hotel may need to rest.

A clean place to break up a long drive to Spain or the UK, with welcoming staff. The hotel is close to the motorway and has lots of free parking. Rooms are a decent standard, and the modern breakfast area serves an acceptable meal at a reasonable price.

This time, our stay was pleasant. We’d had a problem on an earlier visit when there was a temporary manager, but Olivier, the duty manager, was extremely helpful and handled my concerns about that stay very professionally. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel.
