Inn Design Mâcon Sancé Hotel

The room handle was coming loose, and the bed was really uncomfortable. The bathroom and floors were very dirty, and the toilet wouldn’t flush properly. It’s cheap for a reason. I’d avoid this place.

This has become my favorite motel for an overnight stop on trips to the Côte d’Azur.

The front desk staff were very friendly, and my room itself was clean. The breakfast was the reason I considered staying, though only the serving area seemed refreshed; the old floor looked dirty. The hallway was poorly lit and gave me the creeps, like being in a horror movie. A small amount of updating could make a big difference. Nothing spectacular.

Reception was good, and the location was convenient, though noisy. We booked two rooms for two nights, but cleanliness was a real problem: there were two cockroaches and about three spiders in my twin room, plus hair from previous guests in the bathtub and clothing labels still visible on the carpet. Our room wasn’t cleaned between nights, and the toilet in the other room was clogged. Breakfast was decent, but expensive for what you got. I understand it’s meant to be a budget hotel, but there should still be a basic standard.
