Camping de Santenay

Friendly staff and good value for money. We had a spacious pitch beside the vineyards, with lovely views over the surrounding wine hills and plenty of shade. The campsite is next to the voie de vins, a nice cycling route in several directions, and Santenay is an easy walk away. There are restaurants such as L’Ouillette and Le Terroir, plus wine tasting options. The sanitary facilities are a little dated, but generally clean and working properly. The campsite was recently taken over by Terracamps.

When we got a flat tire in Saint Aubin on a Sunday, one of the kind women at the camping arranged a taxi that could pick us up, so we could get our bikes back to the campground. Finding a taxi on a Sunday in that region is almost impossible, so the team’s help was incredibly kind. Thank you, thank you, thank you! We’ll never forget it :x

We only needed a safe place to sleep during our road trip, and slept well. We arrived very late and left early, but the woman I’d emailed was kind and welcoming, and sent all the details about the gate, payment, and everything else. A perfect pit stop.

The pitch we had came with a surprise sighting of three rats once, which our terriers loved. The showers smelled bad, were unisex, and offered little privacy. The location earns the two stars, with good access to the voie verte and vineyards.
