Comfort Hotel Orleans Saran

For the price, it did the job for a one-night stop and I'd recommend it at that rate. The room wasn't especially comfortable, though I expected that given what I paid. Getting on and off the toilet and in and out of the shower felt like I had to learn contortion.

The person working there was incredibly friendly and had to manage everything alone, from check-ins to breakfast. Mad respect. The bed was nice and firm, we slept pretty well, and the location is convenient for an overnight stop on the way south, right by the highway and fairly close to Orleans. But almost everything seemed broken or close to it. The toilet felt as if it might come off if you put your full weight on it, and the shower tap needs to be handled gently or you might pull a piece of wall off. The room door fits so badly that you have to throw your whole body against it to shut it. The TV remote only works from about 1 cm away, and sometimes needs two presses, sometimes 23, before it responds. Those are just a few examples. The place feels so cheap and overdue for replacement that I started wondering if anything had been done since it was installed in the probably 80s. Maybe the owners have forgotten the hotel entirely? It's extremely depressing. Don't go unless you want to feel like you're on a David Lynch meets Quentin Tarantino movie set in the 80s.

The location was good and the room was clean, but the shower's water restrictor barely lets water through, so showering takes four times as long. The toilet's the same, it takes at least four flushes to get the job done. Where's the comfort in that?

The front desk lady was helpful, and my room was quiet and clean with a comfortable bed. I was content with the stay apart from a few annoyances. The shower and bath weren't as clean as I'd expected. The window only opened fully instead of tilting, and on the ground floor I wasn't willing to leave it open like that. Also, getting to the hotel meant driving through a lot of residential streets, which was frustrating after my eight-hour drive. Just be aware of that.
