The owner came back after we’d left, which felt intrusive. The rooms and shared areas smelled musty, and the bedroom door had swollen so badly it wouldn’t close. We had to take our suitcase somewhere safe. The cottage was rented by the room. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The location worked especially well for show jumping, and I already know where I’ll stay next time I’m nearby. The owner was lovely and welcoming, and the house had a friendly feel that made us comfortable right away. We slept really well, and it was great value for money.

Shared spaces and chatting with people are part of the stay here, so it suits you if you like that. We stayed two nights, found it pretty good value, and had no complaints. The welcome was friendly.

There were expired products left from previous guests, and personal belongings were still in the cupboards. Some services had been advertised but weren’t provided, and the garden was overgrown. The lack of professionalism makes me say to avoid this place.

On cold days, the fireplace in the living room makes this a particularly pleasant, warm house.
