I found black mold still visible in the corners of my room at ibis Mulhouse, even though the walls looked as if they’d been painted over recently. There was also a strong damp smell, and moisture seemed to be coming through where the ceiling meets the wall. This looks like an ongoing mold and moisture issue and raises serious health and hygiene concerns. Future guests may want to check their room when they arrive.

We had a lovely meal, and Ilhem and Vino, along with the manager, waitress, and chef, were great. The hotel’s location is convenient, right by the motorway, and the room was fine. Very nice stay with excellent service! 🙏😊

We appreciated the friendly staff, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. Still, I wouldn’t stay here again because the cleanliness and overall quality let us down. Our room on the second floor had a strong smell, like sewage, and the hotel itself smelled unpleasant. Housekeeping mostly seemed to make the bed and refill the toilet paper. One morning we’d made the bed ourselves before leaving, and it hadn’t been touched when we came back. We also had only two bath towels on the first night. Reception said they don’t provide hand towels, so we should use the bath towels for everything, which I’ve never come across before. Breakfast was included in our four-night stay, but it was the worst hotel breakfast I’ve had: very limited choice and not worth the price. We would have skipped it and gone to a nearby bakery if we’d known. At 6:40 on our last morning, ten minutes after breakfast was supposed to start, it still wasn’t fully laid out. The two people also working reception were rushing to put food out, handling cheese and ham with bare hands instead of gloves or utensils. It didn’t feel hygienic. For two nights I was uneasy after waking with an itchy bite on my foot and worrying it might be bed bugs. We checked carefully and found nothing, but the concern stayed with me.

I only stayed because I had no choice, and I’d have changed hotels if I could. The industrial area was unpleasant, and the service was just as bad as the nearby factory. The food was terribly cooked, like they hadn’t even tried to do it properly. The one good point was the bald man, who I think was the manager, since he spoke fluent English.

The room setup was awful for our family of two adults, a baby, and a child. We expected separate bedrooms, but they put us on different floors. There was no cot, so the baby had to sleep on a bed about a meter high with no safety rail. I spent all three nights awake, watching in case he fell. The so-called restaurant didn’t have a single high chair either. Both rooms had broken shower handles, so washing our hair properly wasn’t possible. Room 019 had mold in the bathroom, and the sheets in both rooms were ripped, with yellow blankets showing through the holes. That’s terrible for hygiene. Breakfast was so minimal it felt like a crime to charge for it. There was hardly anything good, and the egg-boiling machine was there only on the first morning, then mysteriously gone. We paid for three breakfasts and ended up with plain bread and butter. It was very cold in the restaurant area by the entrance, with no working heat. The receptionists had an electric heater on the counter, so they clearly knew how cold it was. Over our three days, both key cards stopped opening the doors more than ten times. That was especially frustrating while carrying a child and all their things from a room on another floor. I’d have to go back to reception with the luggage and baby so they could reset the card. The reception staff couldn’t speak any English. This was our Christmas trip, and the two other hotels we stayed in were enormously better than this outdated, dirty place. I can’t recommend a single thing about it.
