The hotel itself was great. My room was spacious enough, modern, and clean, and it was handy having a bar on site for food or drinks late at night. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby. Getting around was the hard part. Sélestat is a small French town with poor public and private transport. I arrived by train without a car, and there were literally no buses running on the weekend. Finding a taxi, Uber, or Bolt was almost impossible in this remote part of the country. If you want to explore the region freely, coming by car is best.

We were there over Easter weekend and enjoyed the hotel. The receptionist was very friendly, and our room was clean. It’s just outside the city centre but still close, with restaurants and a cinema nearby. Breakfast was okay. It’s a good base for visiting Colmar, Strassburg, and Sélestat by car.

The rest of our stay was okay, but breakfast was a strange problem. I understand the receptionist also handles breakfast in the mornings. The woman on the first day was great, but on the other days she seemed like she didn’t want to work. Even with French guests there, I had to call her over to ask for a croissant, an egg, and a “FORK.” She hadn’t checked anything in the kitchen, and on our last day the coffee beans in the machine had run out.

The room was comfortable and pet friendly, and breakfast was lovely. There’s plenty of parking, with a good location and places to eat nearby.

The staff were very helpful, and the hotel was clean, safe, and great value. It was a longer walk from the train station than we expected, especially with backpacks, and there weren’t many restaurants within walking distance. The staff mentioned we could get 10% off at Buffalo Grill, so we tried it and were pleasantly surprised by the meal. It all worked out well, and I’d highly recommend staying here.
