Auberge du Lyonnais

The hotel sits beautifully on a river corner, close to the old town and the lake. We loved unwinding at the outdoor bar with one of the bar team's wonderful cocktails. The food was exceptional and the wine list was great. My wife and I had a really relaxing stay, largely because of the food and how welcome the team made us feel. Every staff member at the ADL was amazing, friendly, and eager to help. I've never known a whole team to be so helpful. The owners should be very proud of the hotel and the people who served us. We went to Auberge du Lyonnais on May 2nd and sat on the terrace. The service stood out: everyone was professional, attentive, and very friendly. My wife had the meat main course and I chose fish, and both were perfectly prepared. Their wine list is excellent, with plenty to choose from, including quality house wines and rarer, more premium bottles. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Annecy. One tip, make a reservation through the website ahead of time.

We had a lovely Friday lunch, with wonderful food and service. There are several menu choices for gluten intolerance, and the menu guides make them clear. I left a note with the booking, and the staff made sure to bring it up when we arrived. Ask for an outdoor table to enjoy the sunshine and canals.

The location is excellent, just a six-minute walk from the train station without any uphill stretch, and most places are only five to ten minutes away. The restaurant terrace has gorgeous canal views, and the food and drinks are great. The wait staff were friendly and attentive too. I wasn't keen on the cold scallops, since I prefer them hot, but I thought I'd try them while in France. My room was small, but clean, modern, and had what I needed. I missed having a mini fridge for my medication, though the staff kindly stored it in their fridge. Sound carries through the rooms, so I could hear what was happening outside mine, but thankfully things quieted down by 11 pm at the latest.
