The staff were really friendly, and the hotel is right in the town centre. You may get a much better price by trying to book directly with the hotel.

The staff were wonderful, the beds extremely comfortable, and the elegant lobby really dazzled us. It’s a quaint, charming hotel in a wonderful location. We were a couple with two kids, and the adjoining rooms with one bathroom were very reasonably priced. The carpets are old and the room was a little musty, but we’d definitely recommend the hotel.

We read some pretty good reviews before going into this restaurant, but our experience was the opposite. There was hair in the food, no high chair for the baby, and no A/C. The owner was absolutely rude and mean to her staff. We had to ask five separate people to turn on the A/C. We'll never go back.

The staff took great care of the twins, upgraded us to a suite at no extra charge, put my road bike in the garage so it wouldn't be stolen, and had the baby chairs ready for breakfast. The cheese platter and cakes were amazing, and the price was very decent. I highly recommend both the hotel and restaurant. Grand Hotel du Cours feels like a trip back in time, to when families ran local boutique hotels and relays and took personal care of their guests. It's not a Best Western, Novotel, or Hilton where everything looks alike and feels soulless, without history or a personal touch. This is the sort of place I look for when travelling through little French villages with my wife and three kids. The food is great, like eating at your grandma's. I saw some negative comments from people who ordered shrimps. Right, but if you'd had the plat du jour, you probably would have enjoyed a more than decent meal for 15 Euros. The gratin dauphinois was great with an amazing piece of lamb roast. And in response to that other comment, lamb is meant to be fatty so it stays juicy and tasty. The hotel is well located, and the staff are super friendly. Honestly, if you want shrimps in Sisteron, maybe Sisteron isn't the place to go.

The restaurant looked inviting, so after a long day of driving and a night in Sisteron, we went in. We ordered two salads and lamb chops. The salads looked fine at first, but the iceberg lettuce had brown edges, as if it had been waiting in the kitchen a long time, and I started losing my appetite. The lamb was even worse: too much fat and hardly any meat, poor quality, tasteless potato gratin, and overcooked, mushy cauliflower. The hygiene was the worst part. Flies kept flying around and landing on our food every few seconds. That's completely unacceptable. A simple blue insect light might have helped, but the restaurant hadn't invested in one. In the end, my main dish was contaminated and I had no appetite left. Don't spend your money there.
