La bastide de Margaux

A really peaceful place to spend a few relaxing days. This is a lovely maison d’hôtes, and Claire and Philippe are such friendly, welcoming hosts. They’re the best.

Lovely people, and a lovely place.

Claire made breakfast for us every morning and looked after us so thoughtfully. She even felt more like a host mum than just an owner. She also arranged an excellent private chef dinner at the property, while Phil shared his knowledge of Bordeaux wines with real passion and made the region feel much more approachable to our group. We were eight friends who rented the whole property for a few days during our Bordeaux trip. The house was super charming, exactly the adorable Margaux house you might picture. But what made the stay special was Claire and Phil. They clearly love welcoming guests, and it shows in the way they do everything. We arrived with a long list of requests about winery visits, restaurant bookings, activities, logistics, and other questions. Trip planning isn’t officially part of their service, but Claire, Phil, and Laura helped us a lot. Their local knowledge and connections were invaluable, and many of their suggestions became highlights of our trip. We happened to be there during an unusually hot week, probably the one thing nobody could control. Apart from that, it was a fantastic stay and a wonderful spot for a group gathering in the heart of the Médoc. Highly recommended. Thank you, Claire, Phil and Laura, for taking such good care of us.
