Logis Hotel le Cadet de Gascogne

We weren't staying at the hotel, just travelling with my wife and son and looking for somewhere to eat. It’s a charming little place, with a quaint feel and really friendly staff. I had the merlu, served with rice mixed into a rich parmesan and cream sauce. Fantastico!

The food is delicious, and the menu is small but has something for most tastes. This hotel and restaurant is clearly the place to gather for dinner and evening socialising in town. We got a warm, lively welcome as soon as we walked in. We might have missed it if someone hadn’t told us about it. The locals seem to keep the good spots to themselves! Book ahead, it fills up quickly.

We found Le Cadet de Gascogne on Google Maps while driving between France and Spain, looking for somewhere around halfway to rest, stretch our legs, and have lunch. The tree-shaded patio was a lovely place to sit, and the lunch menu was good value, even though the three-course option was the only one available. The food was simple, fresh-tasting, and delicious. There seemed to be more French diners than foreign visitors, which I liked. Service was friendly and efficient, the bathrooms were clean and modern, and there was plenty of free parking nearby. A good lunch stop.

The restaurant was a highlight, with fantastic, tasty food at a good price, brought out quickly by attentive staff. I stayed in room 6, which was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and well equipped. I’d happily eat here and stay again. Five stars!
