The shared toilets and bathrooms stayed clean throughout my stay, and there were about three sets in the area for my floor, with no queues. Check-in was smooth and I got a first-floor room, though there’s no elevator and I had to carry my luggage upstairs. It was a basic, somewhat cramped room, as expected, with a small table, TV, and a sink in one corner. Amenities weren’t provided. Hotel F1 Strasbourg feels more like a hostel than a hotel. It’s near the Port du Rhin stop on tram line D, which gets you to the city in about 20 minutes, though it’s a bit far from the center.

The room was smaller than I expected, with hardly enough room to walk around or put luggage. Still, everything else was fine, and the staff were nice, though they could smile a little more. The hotel is right in front of the tram station and a market.

Even by hostel standards, this place fell short of what I expected. The rooms were tiny and dirty, and the bathrooms were like glorified porta-johns. It’s practically in another country, literally. Calling it a hotel is a stretch, so you have to adjust your expectations. There’s no way this flophouse should cost more than 60€, even at the height of Christmas Market season.

Emina at reception was amazing, such a lovely person, and I was pleasantly surprised that she speaks Serbian. The hotel itself is very nice, with a distinctive interior and details about cars, though it isn’t luxurious. Thanks for everything, and see you again.

A good, affordable place to stay, with free Wi-Fi and breakfast and coffee available to buy. It’s close to the tram, and the 15-minute ride takes you downtown, away from the busy Christmas market crowds.
