The staff were very friendly and patient with my terrible French. There was only one power outlet in the whole room, bathroom included, but they supplied a power strip. The air conditioning fan didn't work, although it wasn't a big issue on this trip. My room was over the cafe and the alley, yet with earplugs I couldn't hear anything. The bed was comfortable in every way, perhaps a little too large for the room. It's a great spot, and the location couldn't be beaten.

The bed was comfortable, the shower was great, and the hotel is very well placed for the city center. The thing that stopped me giving it 10/10 was the Wi-Fi. It was terrible, working for just three hours before dropping out completely. I was out and about most of the time, thankfully, but it would've been nice to use my phone while on the toilet.

We got there very early and could leave our bags in storage, which made things much easier. The manager was attentive and accommodating, and the room was clean and comfortable. The cathedral is only a few minutes away, in an incredible location in Strasbourg. There's no elevator, so you have to climb some steps, but that wasn't a problem for us. My only small complaint is that the shower head couldn't be set down hands-free. I think that may have been more of a culture shock for me.

You can walk to everything from this excellent location, including the bus and train. The room itself was small and dark, with stained carpet and just one outlet, and we were on the third floor with no elevator. The whole place felt more like a run-down hostel than a hotel. Inside the entrance, a narrow hallway led to stairs, with no reception desk or staff around. On arrival the keys were left in envelopes, and on departure they were hung on a keyboard. We couldn't ask anyone about anything, including whether we could leave our bags after checkout. There was a locked closet marked "luggage," but nothing explained how to get in. All night, a very loud drill-like buzzing came from the walls every one or two minutes, making it hard to sleep.

Our room smelled awful, the carpet was wet, and the air felt damp. The man in charge acted as if he cared and put bathroom towels over the carpet, which only left us with more wet things on the floor. We felt sick the next morning. When we told him, he just shrugged. It was the worst hotel night and service we've had. Avoid this place at all costs.
