The kindness of the staff is what stays with me most. Ms Edith Da Silva gave me such a warm welcome and took time to tell me and other guests about the history of Les Alérions and the kind of tourism ÉthicÉtapes hopes to promote. And thanks to the Chef for the delicious suppers and the chance to try local specialties. Mealtimes were always friendly and made it easy to meet people. I spent 12 to 18 September at Les Alérions and had a wonderful time. I’m a solo traveller in my sixties, getting around by train, bus, and on foot. I’d come to hike, and the many nearby trails, with different lengths and levels of difficulty, made it an ideal base. When I wanted a change, I could walk to Talloires or take a local bus to Annecy. I was also lucky to have a room overlooking the lake, a view I don’t think I could afford at the area’s ideally located hotels. I’d heartily recommend Les Alérions to anyone who wants to experience Haute Savoie in a way that’s different from mainstream tourism.

We found it basic, but very clean, which suited our group perfectly. The staff were friendly, and the quiet setting has lovely views. We’ll be back next year.

For a large group wanting affordable, convenient accommodation, this is a good choice. If comfort, being close to the city, or a nice restaurant matters to you, look elsewhere. Depending on what you need, I’d rate it a three or a five.
