Woods Hôtel

I work hard for my money, and I don't think hotels should prey on guests because of distance. This is $500+ that I want refunded. If the hotel fails to refund me, I'll share my experience and keep at it until management does something about getting my money back. Reservation # 73277158607837

On a cold January day, the heating was excellent, and the hot water had good temperature and pressure. Even the shower's waterfall head felt luxurious. There were plenty of towels, seats, and power outlets in the room, plus a safe, all more than I'd expect at this price. The Wifi was spotty but usable. I was here on a weekday business trip. The hotel is quite out of the way, which also made it surprisingly quiet. For the price, the conveniences were great: the buffet next door was horrible, but the hotel lounge had coffee, tea, snacks, and very comfortable seating. Great value for money.

There was ample parking and a restaurant next door, and the staff were really friendly. Checking out was easy. But when we entered the room for our one-night stay, there was a nauseating foul smell. I traced it to the shower drain and notified reception, who changed our room. The new room was clean and looked good, with a big TV, but it was flooded the next morning because the shower was blocked. We hadn't used it the night before. As I was leaving, reception said they knew the floor levels were wrong. Only one of us showered because of the flooding. Very disappointing. My phone had no battery, so I regret not taking pictures, but I won't stay there again.

The room was better than I expected, and the bathroom seemed like it belonged in a hotel several classes more expensive. The friendly staff made the stay enjoyable. When I came back a year later, the room quality hadn't changed, and it was a pleasure that the host recognized me from my earlier visit.
