The hosts made us feel very welcome, and the quiet setting was a real pleasure. This lovely Catalan farmhouse has nine rooms, each well separated from the others and available in different sizes. The terrace suites are especially spacious. We enjoyed how close it is to Thuir and Castelnou for shops and outings, and the pool must be wonderful in summer. A lovely spot for a break, some rest, or a holiday.

We loved ending the day on the terrace with charcuterie, bread, cheese, sausages, ham, and a glass of lovely white wine. Breakfast was another highlight, with a good spread of little pain au chocolat, croissants, baguettes, yogurt, fruit, charcuterie, and eggs available on request. The juices come from a nearby farmer. Sandrine also recommended Restaurant L’ Hostal in Castelnou and booked us a table, which turned out to be a great choice. We stayed two nights at Casa9 and got a superior room with a sitting area and a great bed. We slept like babies, and despite there being nine rooms, it never felt busy. Sandrine was a lovely, attentive host. Getting there might be tricky in a big car, but we had a small one and were fine. Remember it’s an old farm close to the mountains, and you can’t go wrong. Breakfast was really good, with local and homemade items. The welcome was very friendly, and the old farmhouse has plenty of charm. Still, it felt a little overrated for a 4-star hotel. Our ground-floor room was somewhat dark, and the decor seemed a bit dated.
