Grand Hôtel Dauphiné Toulon, Boutique Hôtel & Suites

Nathalie at reception was especially welcoming and knew the area well, and the whole team was attentive. We loved the rooftop views across Toulon, too. Our room was spotless and tastefully decorated, with lovely restaurants, cafés, and boutique shops just a short walk away. We had a wonderful stay at the Grand Hôtel Dauphiné and would definitely come back.

The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable. We stayed one night before catching the ferry to Corsica, and it worked well for that. The photos make the hotel look better than it is in person, though, and the street got pretty noisy overnight, with people returning from nearby bars, glass recycling being thrown out, and an early garbage truck. There is an elevator, but it's very tiny, so I wouldn't suggest this place for wheelchair users.

We had a good stay in a great spot in Toulon, within walking distance of Port Toulon and the train station, with little shops and bistros nearby. The streets around the hotel have no vehicles, so it was quiet. Wi-Fi was good, and some room rates include a decent continental breakfast. I'd stay again, though the very hard bed was my main complaint, even though I usually like a firm mattress. The room doesn't get much natural ventilation, but opening the windows fixed that. Stairs are the main way to reach the floors, and while there's a small elevator, I wouldn't recommend the hotel for anyone with mobility issues. The toiletries were below average, so bring your own. I'd rate it 4.5 if I could.

The rooftop pool is so tiny that I have to wonder why it's there. That space would work better as a bar.
