Hotel Aragats

Avoid this place, especially for the price. It’s shabby, next to a garage, and far from everything. The floor hadn’t been cleaned, with dirt left by previous guests. The yellowish sheets had holes in them, and the bathroom was just as bad: the toilet was unclean, a dead insect fell from the tap when I tried to wash my hands, and the shower barely stayed in place.

This Formula 1 hotel deserves three stars. With the walls like crepe paper and a balsa wood door, the slightest noise makes it feel as if someone is in your room. Its only real advantage is if you’re buying a car, since you’re parked in a garage next door.

A total nightmare, the worst hotel I’ve ever seen. There’s no breakfast, and the hallways were noisy in the middle of the night. The room smelled of cigarettes, with yellow sheets marked by cigarette burns, and the shower leaked everywhere. There’s only a 30-liter water heater, and the parking lot is full of cars for sale, so you have to park on the side of the road.

The price is very affordable, which has a big effect on my rating. I had a pleasant reception, and when I ran into a shower problem, the manager sorted it out quickly. The bed was spacious and comfortable, and well made, despite what my photo showed. The towels were clean, and there was a TV, heating, air conditioning, and a wardrobe. There’s also a shared kitchenette with cutlery, plates, and cooking utensils. Still, this is more like a guest room than a hotel room, and it seems to have been put together in a hurry. Cleanliness was poor, and I don’t think the room was cleaned between guests. The small bathroom works, but I worried the sink faucet might come off in my hand or the shower head might fall on me. The wall between the room and hallway is incredibly thin, so you can clearly hear people in the kitchenette. Bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.
