ibis Toulouse Centre

This is a fairly typical Ibis hotel in France, with modest rooms and a building that’s getting on in years. The location is very good, just a few minutes’ walk from the main square in this beautiful city. Breakfast was standard, and the service was friendly but not especially warm. Parking spaces were limited. I’ll leave the window view out of it ;)

The breakfast was horrendous: the scrambled eggs were cold, and the reusable coffee mugs were dirty and hadn’t been washed properly. The room was tiny with no closet for hanging clothes, and the shower was very small. My view was of the dumpsters out back.

You’re right in the heart of Toulouse, and the public bus shuttle to the airport takes about 15 minutes. It stops nearby at Jeanne d'Arc; you can just tap any bank card when boarding, no ticket needed. The staff were friendly, the bar stayed open all night, and my room was cleaned every day.

The breakfast was a pleasant surprise, especially the tea, which was among the best I’ve had, even compared with much better star hotels. I might come back just for that. But the mattresses were terrible, and there was no soundproofing at all. I woke several times every night. It seems management has cut staffing, leaving employees to cover everything alone, and guests end up waiting at busy times like breakfast, lunch, and evening checkouts. It’s hard to understand how the staff stay so nice while juggling refills, helping people, answering questions, and cleaning on their own.
