Mama Shelter Toulouse

I’d seen some bad reviews and was worried before arriving, but we had a really positive stay. The rooms could use a refresh, especially the grout and paint over the scratches. They’re also missing a few things like hair conditioner and tissues, though that wasn’t a big issue. Our room was nice, the bed was comfy, and the location was super central. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, while the door staff were the highlight, really chatty, friendly, and helpful.

There are often dance parties here, and the noise carries into the rooms, so keep that in mind if noise bothers you. The hotel is in a great spot, with plenty of nice amenities within walking distance. Staff were kind during the day and in the morning, though perhaps less so at night. The rooms have very creative, unusual decor, but the ventilation needs improvement because the air gets heavy quickly. Breakfast was pretty good for a French hotel. It’s definitely different from the usual hotel experience.

I usually pick Mama Shelter when I can and there’s availability, because I like the rooms, service, bars, and breakfast buffet at their hotels. This stay wasn’t what I’m used to. I couldn’t add my Accor number for rewards on the Mama Shelter website, so I booked through Accor instead, but couldn’t find the same cheaper internet rates that were on Mama’s site. In my room, the TV and entertainment system, including the free movies, didn’t work. Rather than move me, they said they’d fix it, and that took hours. Then the ceiling leaked right outside my room. They put a bucket by my door, which made coming and going really annoying. There were other rooms available, but they still made me stay there.

The staff were so helpful and accommodating, always ready to lend a hand. When I was sick, they suggested nearby pharmacies and helped us find our way around the city. The restaurant meals were great, and members of the disloyalty program get a small discount. The rooms are fun, with really interesting design, and the free movies were perfect for staying in on sick days. The rooftop was nice too, and the organized activities looked like a lot of fun.
