Quai Central

The location is ideal for train travel, just two minutes from the hotel reception to the SNCF Railway Station. There are plenty of trains to Lille for sightseeing, and a return can cost as little as €6.60. The hotel had only been open for two months, so everything still felt new. Our shower was spacious, the toiletries were good quality, and the mattress and pillows were very comfortable. There are no electric kettles in the rooms, but the receptionist kindly filled our flask with hot water for the trip home. She even brought it to our room at 5.10 am. Everyone we met was polite and extremely helpful. They spoke some English, though I was able to speak with them in French. We arrived late and left early, so we didn't buy food or drinks at the hotel. We'd definitely stay again.

The rooftop gives you a rare view over Tourcoing, and the restaurant serves well-prepared dishes. Breakfast has the usual choices, along with local products like jam, marmalade, and yogurts. The bar offers draft beers such as "Paix dieu", French wines, and cocktails. It's also right by the train station, which makes it a great stop if you have an early train. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

The stuffed zucchini flowers were the standout for me, though the dessert with Geranium ice cream came close. It was an unusual flavour, and a fresh, light way to finish the meal. We had three courses, all nicely balanced, with ingredients and details that connected to the region. At Quai Central, the kitchen is the real highlight. I like to choose a chef's recommendation and sit where I can watch the cooking, so I can see what's seasonal and how it's prepared. The dining room is beautiful, with a central bar stocked with spirits, tap beer, and wine. The rooftop is lovely too. I'd start with a cocktail on the outdoor terrace, which has skyline views, plus a covered area if the French air feels chilly. Whether you're just passing through like I was or you live nearby, I'd recommend it.

We stayed here during the Olympics, and the food was delicious, the rooms were nice, and the staff were lovely. This is definitely the best place I've stayed during all my visits to France. I'll book here again if I return. There's no hotel parking lot, but there are plenty of free spaces on the street right across from it.
