City Résidence Tours

We spent three nights here while visiting the Loire Valley chateaux, and I’d stay again. It worked fine for us since we had a car and were out driving most of the time. The old town is quite a walk away, and there aren’t many restaurants right by the hotel, though there’s a great pizza takeaway about 6-7 minutes away on foot. It might not suit someone whose main focus is seeing Tours. Our apartment was small but clean and tidy, with a little kitchenette. There’s a self-service laundry, and the hotel isn’t staffed after about 19:30, so you need to manage on your own then. When staff were there, they were helpful, and they all spoke English.

My room backed onto the train lines, but I never found the noise intrusive. The place is clean, the staff are friendly and helpful, and it’s an easy walk to the centre of town. The location is nice and central, the rooms are a decent size, and the air-conditioning works. I can’t really fault it.

The apartment is spacious overall, with a kitchen and a big bathroom, and it was fairly clean and centrally located near the train station. There’s no staff after 20:00, but the automatic service system works really well, so don’t worry. The parking is very limited and costs too much at 10 euros a day. Even though it’s a non-smoking hotel, some guests smoked, and there was no staff around to deal with it.

The price didn’t feel justified. Our room smelled of cigarettes, the beds were hard and uncomfortable, and the rooms seemed old and not very clean. We’d booked a garage parking spot, but somehow weren’t told how to get in or given access to the door remote. It took almost an hour and help from a client at another hotel before we reached our spot. There’s no 24/7 reception, by the way. I’ve definitely stayed in much better Adagios.
