Hôtel du Cygne (Tours)

Loved the owners and the delicious breakfast, and the hotel has such fabulous style. Amazing value in a perfect location. Amour amour amour! 🙏

It’s easy to get around from here: the train station is a seven-minute walk, and the nearby street has international food, a grocery store and a laundromat. I’d recommend using Hotel du Cygne as a base for day trips to the neighboring Chateaux in the Loire Valley. The proprietors were charming, and they answered every question. The decor was charming too. I was glad the place welcomed dogs, and they even offered a refrigerator for my dog's food. Couldn’t have been more perfect.

The bike parking was hard to get into and very cramped. It’s outside, uncovered, and near the garbage, and of course it rained. I’d expected more after reading the great reviews. The room was small, as I knew it would be, and the wallpaper looked a bit tired. There was also an annoying odd noise, though we couldn’t work out where it came from.

My wife and I found it a good base for visiting Loire Valley wineries and chateaus. Place Plumereau, with its big square full of restaurants and shops, and other city center sights are an easy walk away. There are also over a dozen restaurants within a block or two. Parking in the center of Tours is a bit tough, as usual. Small, eclectic hotel in a great location with nice owners. View from window below
