Hotel Mondial

The hotel was clean and fine for its standard, and the first-floor breakfast room had a lovely, quiet view over the square in the sunshine. But the stay had a couple of real drawbacks. The room doors slammed loudly whenever other guests came and went, and there are lots of stairs: reception is two floors above ground level, and rooms can be on the first, second, or fourth floor. That could be a pain if you weren’t expecting it or had a lot of luggage. I’d picked the place because it advertised parking. There is parking, but it’s municipal parking in the square. I was worried about my motorcycle and carried its panniers upstairs to keep them safe. The foam earplugs on the bed made sense once a disco started pounding across the square at 11:30. The music stopped at 11:35, but the next morning I sent this after what I guessed was the local club closing at 5:30, when lots of shouting suddenly started. Glad they had fun. Otherwise, all fine.

Being on the edge of the old town worked really well for us, and we’d definitely come back. The staff were warm and helpful, our room was lovely, and breakfast was excellent, served in a relaxed atmosphere. We really enjoyed our stay.

We slept comfortably in a clean room, and the noise wasn’t a problem for us. Friends staying there did hear the nightclub, though. It’s a lovely little hotel in a great location, and I’d stay again.
