They make their own cheese and beer, and there’s food and drinks at the Christmas market they hold each year. An interesting place, worth a visit.

The building and its surroundings are really quiet, which is about the only thing going for it. My room was small and had no atmosphere, and breakfast was very limited. WiFi was down half the time, and there was no cell reception in the building, so I was unreachable for hours if an emergency came up.

I came back to the shop about 40 years after my first visit. I hadn’t stayed at the hotel, but it was lovely to return and find things modern and clean. The Abbaye has changed so much since I was a girl, but it’s nice that it’s still there. Thank you, Sister Martine :)
