Hôtel Avenue Lodge

The hotel staff were the biggest highlight for us. It was our first time at the resort, and the concierge and reception team recommended activities and restaurants, made bookings, and even drove us by shuttle to places that were harder to reach. Each time we returned, they asked how it went. Everyone was so helpful, cheerful, and polite. We'd return tomorrow without hesitation. We stayed the week before Christmas at Avenue Lodge, right in the centre of Val d Isere. Our modern, stylish room was well equipped and had a wonderful slope view from the balcony. A complimentary bottle of champagne for my birthday was a lovely touch. Breakfast was excellent, and staff helped us every morning. The spa and bar were both nice places to unwind after skiing. An absolute gem, and everyone involved should be proud.

I've travelled widely and worked for several big international hotel chains, and I haven't experienced service this good. Nicholas at reception, Ioan and Manu at the bar, and the breakfast team were especially lovely and attentive. The whole team, from housekeeping and concierge to the restaurant and spa, made it hard to fault our stay at Hotel Avenue Lodge. Our family of four had a great room setup, with a large bedroom for the adults and a smaller twin room next door for our teenagers. Both were beautifully decorated and spotless. We made good use of the spa each day, with its two jacuzzis, two saunas, large pool, and steam room. The breakfast had everything we wanted, from fruit, cereals, cheeses, salmon, pastries, yoghurt, and pancakes to coffee, juice, and eggs made to order. The cozy bar was a great place for lunch or a drink after skiing. The hotel is centrally located, close to the lifts, gondola, supermarket, pharmacy, bars, and restaurants. The free bus for Val and Tignes stops right outside. Highly recommended, and thanks to the team for a wonderful stay.

The concierge made the week especially easy, with recommendations that suited us and same-day tables at top spots. Our rooms and beds were wonderful, and the downstairs lounge had a great atmosphere. We also liked the spa's mix of saunas, a hot tub, small pool, and places to relax. The hotel made our week a pleasure.

The breakfast was average and exactly what you'd expect, without much of a luxury touch. The bath and shower combination was awkward to use and left the floor soaked, which is why I'm giving four stars. The beds were very comfortable, though they were mostly single beds pushed together, which is unusual for a British guest. The hotel feels luxurious, with robes and slippers, and the ski shop inside was really helpful and had good stuff.
