Domaine les Mejeonnes

The kids had a great time in the pool just outside our room after the long drive, and the breakfast buffet was generous and fairly priced. We only stayed one night while passing through, but the clean room worked well for two adults and two children, with everything we needed despite its simple furnishings. The vineyard and lovely views are right next door. The restaurant was closed during our stay, so we can't comment on the food; we got an evening snack from the pizza machine three minutes away. We could easily have stayed a few days as a family.

On every trip from Zurich to Barcelona, I make a stop here. The warm welcome, wonderful restaurant, and wines make it a real treat along the way.

They called before we arrived to ask whether we'd like dinner, so the kitchen could get ready. We had a traditional three-course French meal: nothing spectacular, but very solid, and apart from the dessert, nicely presented. The restaurant was packed, yet the service stayed at a good level. We stopped here on our way farther south and found the hotel clean, modest, and absolutely comfortable enough for a three-star place, with good value for the money. There's a pool, and vineyards surround the property. It also seems popular with locals.

The location is great, but dinner wasn't all that pleasant. We stopped in at the restaurant and soon noticed most tables were occupied by hotel guests. They were all over 60, while we were a couple in our twenties, and that made us feel uncomfortable. When the food finally arrived, it was okay overall, though the salad had some rotten tomatoes and the chicken was dried out. The rest was good. Drinks were pricey, as you'd expect at a restaurant in France. 3/5, it could have been better.
