Hôtel Inn Design & Restaurant Alençon

This was our second stay, but the room was nothing like the one we had on our first visit, which is why we booked again. It was so cramped we thought it must be intended for one person. Even with the bed pushed against the wall, there was barely any space, and you had to scramble down to the foot of it to get out. The walk-in shower drained badly, leaving water all over the floor, and the bathroom smelled awful. The staff were pleasant, though, and our evening meal was very tasty.

The place was pretty clean and well looked after, and there’s a breakfast buffet with other food available later in the day. But the rooms are tiny, with no fridge, dresser, or real space for belongings. There’s no air conditioning in the rooms, although for some reason the hallways have it. I’d hesitate to recommend it.

The service was good. It seemed like one woman handled everything apart from cooking: reception, taking orders, bringing out food, and checking that all was well. The restaurant itself was just about okay. My fish was a little cool inside, as if it hadn’t spent quite long enough in the microwave.

Jerome was helpful in every way, from answering general questions to giving us a warm, friendly welcome. The staff were exceptionally helpful, and our room was extremely clean and comfortable. A super stay at a lovely hotel. I highly recommend it.
