Our weekend was ruined after the host gave away the two rooms we'd booked and paid for on Booking.com for us and our two children. When we called to say we were on our way, he told us, in a barely understandable explanation, that he'd received a cancellation by text and had let other guests move in. Booking.com's very responsive support confirmed the booking was still active and asked him to move those guests, but they didn't want to leave. There were no hotels available for Easter weekend nearby. The closest was in Rouen, which we refused to use. The host had no proof of the supposed cancellation message and didn't explain it. He showed no empathy and didn't apologize. Saying "everyone can make a mistake" and "Booking.com will refund you anyway" didn't make it right. We ended up driving from Paris to Fécamp and back the same day, and we'd rented a car for three days with no refund. Unreliable and unfriendly.

The attic room is meant to sleep six, but getting up the stairs is extremely noisy, and even a 1.10m child has to duck. There's no door, so there's no privacy. The included Wi-Fi is so slow you could nap waiting for a page to load. The shower might suit a 1.10m child, and breakfast options are limited. There's one table for 6-7 people, even though the house can have at least 10, so meal times need planning. The welcome was awful, and the owner is only pleasant when it suits him. For such an expensive night I expected better. I strongly advise against staying here; the owner isn't up to it.
