Château de Peufeilhoux

The gardens were lovely, especially the orchids, black swans, and goats, and we had a lot of fun at the organ concert. Staying in a castle was a unique experience. Our comfortable Louis XIII room was well furnished, with a great view of the courtyard, and the restoration throughout is impressive. Just know the castle is open to visitors during the day. It’s a small family-run place, and on a busy day like ours, overnight guests are shown their room and then left to manage on their own. We’re fine with that and didn’t need a guided tour, but the hospitality felt different from other chambres d’hôtes we’ve stayed in.

The gardens and castle made a beautiful setting for the wedding we attended, almost like a fairy tale. Château de Peufeilhoux is also a gorgeous place to stay, peaceful and picturesque, with a spacious room, lovely decor, comfortable bedding, quality amenities, and a breathtaking countryside view. The château is beautifully preserved, with authentic charm alongside modern comfort. Our welcoming, attentive hosts shared its fascinating history, which made the visit more special. Breakfast was delicious, with fresh local products in a charming dining room. We’d love to return, whether for another stay or simply to enjoy the history and elegance.

The staff were really friendly and the service was good. The castle and landscape are beautiful and well cared for. Water features in the garden, including the pond and fountain, seemed to be under maintenance, which was understandable. Breakfast came with good pastry, and the hospitality was warm. The swans aren't friendly, though the dogs are very friendly.

It was lovely to spend the night in a historic building in such a quiet area. We came for just one night during the off period, and the family who runs the accommodation was gracious and accommodating. Breakfast was lovely, even though we skipped the eggs they offered and just had bread, croissants, and jam. Book directly for better deals, and more of the money will go toward maintaining the building and grounds.
