Residence Pierre et Vacances Le Thabor

We’ve used Pierre et Vacances for skiing holidays for years and plan to keep doing so. In the Renne Building at the top of Valmeinier, the apartments were clean, comfortable, and well equipped, with genuine ski-in/ski-out access. A restaurant, the Lift Pass Office, Carrefour Montagne, ESF, and Ski Set are all nearby. The Pierre et Vacances staff were friendly and courteous, and collecting our prepaid lift passes on arrival was very convenient.

The heated outdoor pool is the real treat here. You can swim and sunbathe without getting cold in almost any weather. The staff are kind, and the view is stunning. It’s a good-value base for hikes, though the building is only OK and clearly below the standard of a PV Premium location. A premium Mountain View room faces north and gets no sun. That can be pleasantly cool in hot weather, but quite chilly on less warm, normal summer days.

Ski-in/ski-out access worked well for us, and the rooms had enough space for what we needed. We were satisfied.

The beds were very comfortable, and the location was great. But the room was a little dirty, the corridors smelled bad, and the shower barely worked. We chose the more expensive option for the pool, only to find it out of order, something that wasn’t mentioned when we booked. Nothing was provided. If you just need somewhere to sleep and don’t expect extras, it’s a good place to stay.
