Hôtel Pierre Blanche

Our room had a double bed in the back room, plus a kitchen and sofa bed in the other room, and a lovely view over the fields behind the hotel. Everything was clean and comfortable, and the owners responded quickly when we needed an extra bed for the kids. We arrived on Sunday while reception was closed, but getting the key from the kiosk outside was easy and convenient. We’ll stay again!

The separate bedroom gave us lots of space, and the kitchenette had plenty of cookware and dishes, a microwave, a four-burner stovetop, and a Nespresso machine. I slept really well in the comfortable bed with top-quality bedding. The views over the Jura mountains were lovely, and the price was reasonable, with Annecy not too far away. In French it’s an 'apart-hotel'; in English, it’s more like an 'efficiency' hotel. I could have ordered breakfast, but instead walked to the boulangerie/pattiserie up the road, which has just about anything you could want for breakfast or lunch. There’s also a Carrefour supermarket about 5 minutes away on foot.

The bed was at least clean, but this was my worst work stay so far. There was no breakfast, and the furniture in the rooms was really old. The desk was so worn that it had dirty spots and felt sticky. Rooms nearby were very noisy, with long-term guests and kitchens in them.

It had the charm of a German prison from 1970. A German prison today is much more comfortable and cleaner! I chose to sleep in my car, not because of the cost, since my company was paying for the business trip. The apartment was dirty, the bed wasn’t fresh, there were hairs from previous guests everywhere, and the shower hadn’t been cleaned.
