A bit on the pricey side, but I thought it was worth it. The owner/manager really makes an effort to help you feel at home and welcome. It's a lovely, cozy spot for a countryside getaway, and they speak English for my fellow Americans.

We had the Suite by the pool, and it was huge, with a kitchen equipped with a stove, dishwasher, and fridge. There’s secured off-street parking too. The owner was friendly and very helpful, speaks good English, and genuinely enjoys meeting guests. I’d recommend it.

We were travelling with our one-and-a-half-year-old baby and they took great care of him, too. The service felt both warm and impeccable, and everyone was attentive to our well-being. After our car broke down in Nevers, we urgently needed a hotel. We called Hôtel La Croix de Vernuche, and they got a room ready straight away. I highly recommend it.

The terrace view was breathtaking, and breakfast was delicious and enormous. We were three families with young children, not exactly quiet guests, but the team treated us with far more kindness and thoughtfulness than you'd expect from standard hotel hospitality. They helped make things easier whenever they could, and our rooms were very comfortable. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely return.
