Les Villaris

Our stay was pleasant right up to checkout. Then the owner blamed us for a stain on his tarmac courtyard, saying it came from an alleged diesel leak. If you stay there, inspect the place carefully, inside and out, so any dishonesty can't come back to haunt you.

The village is lovely and very quiet, even though Dijon is only 10 minutes away by expressway, so the location works well for a stopover too. The rooms are clean, tastefully furnished, and each has its own terrace. Breakfast was delicious, with homemade jams and yogurts. The hosts are genuinely welcoming and seem happy to have guests, though you do need to speak French. Highly recommended.

The hosts were charming, helpful, and easy to reach with questions. They also gave us plenty of information about places to see around the region. Les Villaris is well placed for exploring the Côte d'Or, 10 minutes from Dijon and the start of the Route des Grands Crus, and 45 minutes from Beaune or the MuséoParc Alésia. The Burgundy Canal is just 5 minutes away, and the hosts kindly provided bicycles so we could enjoy it. We stayed six nights to explore Burgundy and were very happy with the room, which was lovely, spotless, and incredibly comfortable, with excellent bedding. Breakfast was generous and varied: homemade yogurt and jams, superb local cheeses, and pastries if you wanted them. A stay we'll remember fondly.

Christine was very accommodating and let us charge our plug-in hybrid. We visited Dijon from here and drove here along the Canal de Bourgogne. The B&B has a kitchen and terrace, and breakfast was excellent. It’s probably fully booked in summer, but there was no problem getting a place now.
