Le Grand Saint-Marc

The owner was attentive and helpful, and pointed us toward a very nice restaurant. We spent two nights at Le Grand Saint- Marc, where the accommodation was first class. Breakfast was beautifully presented and served outdoors in lovely surroundings. A lovely place to stay.

They also don't want children, saying that “they broke thing and are expensive to clean”. This place seems to put business ahead of people, and it may have been good in the past judging by the comments, but it has changed a lot recently. We asked during the reservation for a 30-minute delay to check in for personal reasons. They refused, kept our money, then waited until the very last minute of check-in to tell us, “too late we close the gate”. Nothing good to say about the experience.

The view was amazing, and the whole place felt relaxing. The hosts were friendly and breakfast was tasty. I just wish I could have stayed a few more days.

The Manoir and its grounds make an attractive, interesting setting for the gites, especially if you're into history, architecture, or interior design. Everything is done beautifully and with real taste. We stayed one night at Le Grand Saint Marc and were warmly welcomed by the owner, who offered us a glass of wine. It's a little outside town, so you'll need to drive a couple of minutes into Vendome, but it's well worth it. Paris is only 42 minutes away by TGV. Can't wait to return.
