Hotel de Got

The breakfast was generous, with very fresh ingredients, and we had a simple, tasty dinner. Our room was spotless and the bed was comfortable, with a very welcoming hostess. The town is pleasant, though the street gets busy and noisy early on weekday mornings.

There was no one to meet us when we arrived, despite being told by phone, and breakfast wasn't available. When we left, we had to put the key on the counter because reception was empty. It felt like a ghost hotel.

The room was spacious and the air conditioning worked, which we needed with 39 degrees Celsius outside. It was quiet, and the older decor might suit people who like bed and breakfasts, though it wasn't for us. The bathroom, with no shutter, was scorching, and the shower cubicle was extremely narrow. The double bed was only 140 cm, which felt small. The TV was positioned off to the side, so watching it could leave you with a stiff neck. Contacting the hotel was difficult: calls went to voicemail, and the owner called back later. When I mentioned the trouble reaching her, she said she had a family life, which didn't seem very professional. Sonia also called to apologize that there would be no breakfast because of a family issue. We weren't greeted in person either, just given a code on the phone and a written note with the room number on the counter. It had a ghost hotel feel. We paid €81 excluding taxes, which seemed excessive for a 2-star hotel in a village. Our room was on the first floor, up a steep staircase with no handrail and no elevator. The old lock was so difficult to open with the key that we wondered if we'd get in at all.

Sonia made us feel welcome, and the bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was great, and you can arrive at any time.
