Htel de la Darse

This is still our favourite hotel after at least five visits. The location is hard to beat, and the staff are friendly.

We fell in love with this hotel. It sits across from the harbour in a quieter part of town, about 200m from a small pebbly beach. Our first floor room had a terrace that was lovely for sitting out in the morning and evening. It was spacious, with a desk, chair and mini-fridge, plus a good bathroom and excellent air conditioning, which came in handy during the heatwave. The only snag was the sea-level path into the old town was closed while the Citadelle was being renovated. We had to take the longer way around. It wasn’t a big problem, though the walk felt sweaty in that heat.

The setting is quiet and picturesque, and it’s a beautiful hotel. There’s a stony beach for swimming just a few minutes away on foot, while the old town takes about 10 minutes to reach. It’s easy to get an Uber into Nice. I’d happily recommend it and come back.

My parents have been staying here for years, and they introduced my partner, other family members and me to it. We all love coming back, and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Villefranche. The hotel is well kept and tucked into a quieter part of Villefranche, looking over a pretty port, with the town centre not too far away. The rooms are a good size and have what you need. The ones with bay views and balconies are especially nice. Staff are friendly and relaxed, and there are good options for breakfast and dinner.
