Chateau Fauchey

The room was so dusty that even lying on the bed sent a lot of dust into the air. I expected an old, beautiful atmosphere, but found vulgar modern decor instead, including plastic chairs and a purple mirror. Small things were missing too: there was no bathroom trash can or room napkins, and just one chair in a large room. The place felt like a money-making machine for the owner. Had I known about these details, I wouldn't have come, and I can't recommend it to anyone.

The wine is very good and quite exclusive, and you can't really find it elsewhere. Hugo was a gracious host, and his château is an impressive neo-gothic building set beautifully among his vineyards. The rooms were spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated.

We were welcomed warmly and personally by Hugo, the castle manager and host. He showed us a beautiful, spacious room, explained things well, and offered an evening wine tasting with him, which made our one-night stop on the way south feel more personal. My wife and I would love to come back. Thank you, and see you soon! Château Fauchey is a small castle and winery in the Cadillac region near Bordeaux, perched on a hill with panoramic vineyard views. The rural setting was so quiet we mostly heard birds, with an occasional church bell in the distance. Outside, the castle feels authentic; inside, it has been technically renovated while keeping historic details and atmosphere. Climbing the old stairs to the high halls where the rooms are really makes you feel its history. Breakfast was arranged individually for a time agreed with Hugo, a perfect finish to our stay.

There isn't a restaurant on site, but there's a very good one in the nearby village, just two minutes away. This charming place sits on a vineyard-covered hill, and the owner gave us a very warm welcome with a tasting of his magnificent wines. It's a great hotel for disconnecting from the world. Highly recommended.
