Comfort Viry Chatillon

The view over the water is beautiful, and the service was friendly, though the drink selection is limited. I’m used to a different kind of service, but that doesn’t mean this place was bad :-) A nice spot, good overall.

The rooms were so tiny there was nowhere to open a suitcase, and the bathroom barely had room for a toothbrush. The hallway had a strange horse smell. The receptionists we encountered weren’t very friendly, either. It wasn’t exactly dirty, but it’s clearly been a long time since a proper clean. The general standard is nowhere near three stars.

From the patio, we could watch birds on the lake, waterskiers, joggers and people walking their dogs. The location was beautiful, and the restaurant served delicious food at a reasonable price. Everyone was helpful and welcoming, the premises were spotlessly clean, and breakfast was very good with plenty of variety. My stay was restful and exceeded what I expected.

We booked through the Logis website a week ahead and reserved a table for dinner. Check-in was very efficient, and the hotel was clean and comfortable, with reasonably sized rooms and plenty of parking. It’s in a lovely spot, close to everything, with a lake and water complex behind it. The bar was closed because the dining and bar area was being decorated for a large booked event. We have to criticise the hotel for not telling us that they wouldn’t be able to reserve a table.
