The cottage itself is lovely and has everything you need. A shame the owner seems so unsuited to this work. She came across as aggressive and unfriendly, and seemed not to like people. Maybe another line of work would suit her better.

A peaceful spot up at altitude, with a beautiful view of the volcanic peaks around it. There are walks and hikes to enjoy, mushroom picking, and water sports on the Loire.

The welcome at the Gîte du Bachat was superb. It was a fantastic weekend in a brand-new place surrounded by nature, and I came away feeling really refreshed.
