I always make a point of coming here when I’m back in Alsace. It’s a quiet place to reconnect with nature, away from the noise and close to what matters. The cooking feels thoughtful, the service is warm, and the atmosphere is peaceful.

The lodges can get really warm in summer, since there’s no A/C. On the plus side, it feels safe and is great for kids, with a playground and a booklet of local activities and a map for finding special trees in the rooms. We liked the location, though it was our own fault for not checking the website more carefully before booking. This isn’t a hotel, and room cleaning costs extra, 66 euros for clean towels and sheets, even during the pandemic. The restaurant gets lots of praise, but we ate there the first night and didn’t go back. Maybe the chef was off that day.

We stayed in one of the lodges for a few nights. It was clean and spacious, though a few things were broken or worn. We skipped the extra breakfast at the bar, but had dinner there. It was good and included vegan and vegetarian choices, but felt quite expensive.

The drive in through the forest follows a narrow, winding road, so take care. Once there, you’ll find a large car park, friendly staff who speak English, and good bistro-style food with fine wines. It’s a pleasant hotel, restaurant and spa site, and could be a nice option for a weekend away.

There are lots of things for kids to do in both summer and winter. It’s a peaceful spot in the forest in the Vosges mountains, with nature and wildlife all around. Take a slow walk around the inn, or just relax and have a drink.
