At £36, Jewel Guest House in Aberdeen was decent for the price. The room was basic but generally clean, though it was cold because there was no heating. I couldn’t find any staff to ask about it, and the broken toilet seat was inconvenient. The stay was acceptable for a short budget stop if you just need somewhere to rest, but maintenance and guest support need improvement. The owners also have the Indian restaurant across the road, and the food there is really good. Given the price, I can see why someone might rate it 5/5, but those issues affected my stay.

Spacious, clean and quiet room, and very good value. A bedside lamp would have been useful, though.

The place looks misleading from outside, but inside it’s smart and very clean, with apparently new fittings. The rooms are linked to the Jewel In The Crown restaurant across the road. We’d arranged something around an early check-in, but it didn’t work out, so we had to wait until closer to the official 4pm time. Once checked in, the service and attention were excellent. The shower was extremely stiff to operate. Good value for a city centre hotel, though it’s a wee walk from most amenities.

The manager was welcoming and very friendly. The guest house was quiet and well located near the city centre, bus and rail stations. Our room was clean, cosy and well kept, and the beds were comfortable.

Avoid this place. I never got in touch with an owner, never went inside, and had to find somewhere else to stay.
