Leonardo Hotel Aberdeen

Able-Deen / Shopmobility was really useful, and the whole stay went smoothly. We travelled with someone who needed an accessible room, and the hotel supported us well before arrival, answering questions and helping us complete a PEEP form so we felt prepared. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful, especially Angus, Leah and Lauren at the front of house. A helpful face makes a real difference to the guest experience, and the staff here were great.

The location was good, but I barely slept because there was noise all night from the harbour and bus station. The room was disappointing too: the bed was tiny, the lamp was broken, and two sockets didn’t work. There wasn’t a USB port or even a plug on each side of the bed. Poor standards for a hotel that’s meant to be good quality.

A handy hotel for both the bus and train stations, with friendly, helpful staff and a great breakfast. The room was let down by the lack of power points, with just one near the beds, and there weren’t any USB ports.

Our two-night stay at Leonardo Hotel in Aberdeen's Union Square was awful for a place that’s meant to be 4 star. The two rooms we booked two months in advance were meant to be interlinked, as we were two adults, a little kid and two teenagers. At reception we found out nobody had read that request. The only rooms left were on the 3rd floor with a double bed and the 4th floor with two beds, so our family was split across two floors. The room on the 3rd floor was especially bad for noise and cleanliness. It was opposite the stairs and lifts, and people coming in after nights out kept waking us. It had just one double bed for one adult and two kids. When I rang reception to ask how three of us were meant to sleep in it, both reception staff and later the manager basically said, “How were we supposed to know?” Our booking clearly showed one adult and two kids, so it should have been obvious there were three of us. We were given a folding bed for the extra person, but it looked awful and had a terrible mattress for two nights. There were grimy yellow or brown stains around the toilet, a very dusty toilet paper holder, mold and black gunk on the shower head, black dirt on the taps, and yellow and mold stains on the shower curtain. The hand wash dispenser was filthy, stained and full of shaving hairs. The kettle was burned inside; after I complained, it came back only partly cleaned. There were only two mugs for three people and no spoons, so we used our fingers or bought drinks outside, since the kettle was still nasty and we had no spoons. The large reading light by the chair had a European plug, so we couldn’t use it with UK sockets. The other room had similar cleaning problems, though at least it had two beds for two people, a light with a UK plug, spoons and a kettle that wasn’t quite as dirty. I’ve got pictures of the state of the rooms. This hotel is very overrated.
